The Natural History Museum of Maastricht is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 11 AM to 5 PM and on weekends, from 1 PM to 5 PM. During public holidays opening hours may be different. For an overview of this year’s holidays click here.
No, pets are not allowed in the museum with the exception of official guide dogs.
Yes, we do have a wardrobe and offer lockers as well. To use a locker, you need a €2 coin. A small backpack and jacket will fit in the locker. It is not mandatory to make use of a locker during your visit.
No, it is not possible to pay with a credit card in the museum. You can pay with a debit card (Maestro) or cash.
Yes, it is. The entire museum as well as the museum garden are accessible with a wheelchair or for instance a buggy. We have an elavator to reach all floors. There’ s also a special toilet available.
No, it is not necessary to book a time slot in advance. You can visit the museum without a reservation.
We do not have a parking lot for visitors in the immediate vicinity. Unfortunately, it is only possible to park in the streets around the museum for permit holders. However, the parking garages 'Vrijthof' and ' Onze Lieve Vrouwenparking' are not far away. For more information about parking, visit the website of maastrichtbereikbaar.nl.

This varies per visitor of course. In general we see that people spend an hour and a half in our museum.
It is possible to buy museum cards at the museum for adults and children. You can buy them at the counter and use them immediately. You can also buy them for personal use or as a gift.
We do not have a bar or restaurant. You are allowed to bring your own food or beverages and enjoy them in our ‘huiskamer’ (living room) where you can find a coffee and candy machine as well.
The museum welcomes everyone, young and old. Throughout the museum there are special treasure boxes which kids can explore. We also regularly organize workshops for children. See our agenda for the current program.
Yes, you can visit the shop without a ticket. The museum shop is open during the opening hours of the museum.
The ENCI quarry is not too far away. It’s a 25 minute walk from the museum.
You’re allowed to take pictures for personal use. Feel free to tag @nhmmaastricht or #nhmmaastricht in your pictures and share them. We would love to see them! Press or professional photographers need permission. You can apply at klantenservice@maastricht.nl
